Today, I watched two videos that talked about shark finning and its affect on the environment, while taking notes. I also typed up the species that are the most vulnerable to shark finning and was quite disappointed to find that one of my favorite species of shark, the scalloped hammerhead, is one of the most vulnerable species to endangerment. Another thing I did was look at more list of vulnerable species as well as visited SF News to read an article about the ban of shark finning, especially in China Town where the soup is extremely popular. Every week I am expanding my knowledge of shark finning and am learning more reasons why this barbaric practice should end, which makes me feel more confident that I can share this information well with my peers. I am also planning on surveying my classmates to see how many people actually know about shark finning.

Today I continued what I had been doing last week, which was continuing to gather my information into slides and finding more images for backgrounds. I also added a graphic to my slides in which i created, which was a simple version of the ocean food chain. It shows the importance of sharks to the food chain and just the sea in general. Without sharks, the ocean would be completely off balance. I also used this graphic in my pitch. ( I made it for my pitch as an example then brought it into my slide) I also found some interviews that I will watch next week.

Today I researched and typed up (in my notes to later be organized into my presentation) the information involving the species of sharks that are finned the most. I found out that scalloped hammerheads are actually endangered, and are most commonly found in soup in Boston. Smooth hammerheads are the second, and are vulnerable to endangerment. I have gone very deep into the information on sharks and how if they become extinct, they can really hurt the ecosystem. I also found an image that gives a lot of information and facts on shark finning, and I thought I could print some copies out and pass them out so the information would be passed along.

Today, I worked on organizing my information that I had in my notes and my Google document that held more of the info that I had gathered into my 'slide' presentation. I worked on summarizing the description of the practice of shark finning, as well as typed some of my statistics. Another thing I did today was search for images to use on the backgrounds of my presentation. Lastly, I scheduled an appointment for my conference with the teacher on April 24th at 11:40.

Today I found a few shark gifs (moving pictures without sound) to add to my presentation. I found one to add to my first slide that I think will really catch attention. If I add some humor to my presentation, it should make the presentation seem more interesting. I also wish to equal out the sad parts from the information with a bit of lightheartedness, using gifs and photos. What I also did today was check my timeline to make sure I was up to date with my project. It is very nice to learn more about this topic and I hope this knowledge spreads after my presentation.

Today I researched the origin of shark fin soup and why it is treasured in Asian countries. I found out that shark fin soup is served at special occasions as a sign of honor and prosperity. Another thing I learned is that studies show that many consumers really don't know of the issues and effects the soup really causes. I also found a few graphics to add to my google slides presentation to make it look more interesting. I also found out more cons about eating shark fin soup that connects more to taste and effects ( like the high-levels of mercury it may contain) These are the things I did today on February, 27.
